I cherish the memory of when I first became a father. In that life changing event (through which I was completely calm), I was struck with so many powerful emotions. From that day on, I have been obsessed with protecting my children.
Understanding that you can’t trust everyone and not everyone wants to help you is the most important lesson I feel I’ve passed on. Throughout my career as a cyber security professional, I have seen victims of cyber attacks that simply trusted the sender’s intentions.
Recently, cyber criminals have been taking advantage of people constantly seeking updates for this COVID-19 event. They are setting up fake websites with malware and are even taking in donations for false organizations raising money for research and medical supplies.
Bottom line: As always, be careful about trusting the information you read on the internet, stay on credible websites when seeking information, and never give out any credit card information to unknown sources.
